    I was at Prep School Bandarawela from 1949 to 1953,at STC Gurutalawa from 1954 to 1958.I was house prefect in Garnier Junior.I was at STC Mt.Lavinia from 1959 to 1962.I was a House Prefect in Copleston Claughton and got my colours in 2nd eleven Hockey and represented the College at Debating. I entered the Faculty of Medicine Colombo University of Ceylon in July 1963.There I obtained colours in Swimming and Waterpolo and qualified in September 1968.I edited the Anatomist in 1969. I joined the Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps in 1967 and was commissioned a Captain in 1970 and served till I left SL in 1979.During this time I served as RMO to the Sinha Regiment in Kandy for one year and also served in Jaffna for 6 months and at the Military Hospital in Colombo for 6 months.I served as Officer Commanding the MRS at Diyatalawa for one year.I was awarded the Republic Medal and the Presidential Medal.

    I served the Dept of Health Services as HO in Medicine for one year at Badulla and as RMO Badulla for 2 years,as DMO Monaragala and DMO Divulapitiya.

    I came to the UK in Jan.1979.I now work as a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven Cumbria.I am a Justice of the Peace and sit as a Magistrate on the Workington Bench. I have been a Major in the British Territorial Army attached to 243 (Wessex)Field Hospital.I have served in Kosovo,Bosnia,Germany and Cyprus.I have received the Certificate of Commendation from the Lord Lieutenant of Avon and Somerset for meritorious service.I have received the Queens Jubilee medal.the Bosnia medal,the Kosovo medal,the Iraq medal and the Territorial Decoration.

    I serve as Medical Officer to the Army Cadet Force in Cumbria. I have completed the annual Nijmegen March(100 miles) and received the medal on 5 occassions.I completed and received the medal for the Danish March in Basra Iraq in 2006.

    I am Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine,a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh,A Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists,a Fellow of the Faculty of Family Planning of the RCOG.I hold the degree of Master of Surgery and am a Member of the Sri Lanka College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

    Cow Boy - for a few incidents, which are best not mentioned on this site, OR ANYWHERE for that matter (especially in view of present professional guidelines)

    UNFORGETTABLE EVENTS AT COLLEGE:

    o Leading 4 raring Thora's at a very emotional Roy-Tho debate in the College Hall, to the rousing noise of a college full of hyped up Thora's (including a Warden) itching to get at Reid Avenue with ANYthing - UNFORGETTABLE atmosphere,

    o Being asked to leave College (by the very same Warden) a few months thereafter, on a suspension, once more for reasons best not stated here Whenever Chrishmal is not 'jetting between his Chambers' in Colombo and London professionally, he spends most of his leisure entertaining with a guitar over his shoulder, with his band 'Serendiptiy' which performs at various gigs in London to live audiences.
